Phil Smith

I've been creating gaming sites since 1997; nothing particularly long-lived, unfortunately, but in their time they generated a fair amount of positive feedback. Those of you with long memories and a fondness for the obscure might remember Shadegate, Agartha or The Legacy of Zerthimon. To this day I'll never understand why anyone liked them: my writing at the time was rubbish. Still, after spending time trying to write and publish adventures I decided to put up another site: something to fill the void left by the absence of Critical Miss. It never got beyond issue 1, although I ended up buying the domain name with intentions on revamping it. By 2005, after an assortment of disasters I felt I needed to get out of a rut. I started learning PHP and soon Slack 'n' Hash was reborn! I figured I needed to collect together all my previous work, update it, improve it and add a load of new material. The project trundled along quite nicely for six months or so, but to my mind things didn't really get going until Tabi got involved. I'll let her explain in her own words.

Tabi Brown

On Slack's previous incarnation, Phil drew a short-lived comic strip called Grunt! I liked the jokes, though he was better at writing than drawing. I asked him some months after the site was reborn in its current form if he intended to resurrect the strip as well. He wanted to wait until he got more confident in his artistic abilities. Having been into cartooning since junior high, I offered to help out with the visuals if he'd handle the writing. After bouncing sketches and ideas off of one another for three and a half weeks, The first Dung Eon strip was finally ready. Since then, we've revamped Phil's five original strips, increased production, branched out into article illustrations. As for the misadventures of Lenny and Timmy, the best is yet to come…
