One of my favourite magic items in the d20 System is the deck of many things. It's an old favourite, and has been in the game since the first edition of Advanced Dungeons & Dragons. A character's fate can be improved or ruined at the turn of a card, and despite the risk there are always some prepared to stake everything on it.
Tabi and I decided to create one of our own shortly after we agreed that Slack 'n' Hash should move on from D&D. Consider this a going-away present of sorts: a last treasure for a game we've both enjoyed, and a taste of the sort of thing you can expect when our own game comes out!
There's not much else to say: click the Start Again button below to draw a card and find your fate!
Addendum (4th March 2008): As soon as I announced this article, I found that Gary Gygax passed away today. This item could also be considered our tribute to all his work, although frankly nothing could do all that justice.
