Dire goats resemble giant crosses between ibex and mountain goats with shaggy white coats, vast horns and muscular, stocky bodies. They spend most of their time roaming the slopes above and below the timberline, often in large herds so as to protect themselves from dire wolves and other predators.

Dire goats stand roughly six feet tall at the shoulder, usually grow up to 12 feet long and weigh as much as 2,000 pounds.

Combat

Dire goats are aggressive and territorial beasts; and males and females often fight each other over mating rights. Dire nanny goats have been known to seriously injure and kill dire wolves to protect their kids. They prefer to charge their enemies, and then retreat to higher, more defensible ground, using their powerful head-butt to knock predators down the mountain slopes.

Powerful Charge (Ex): Powerful Charge (Ex): A dire goat typically begins a battle by charging at an opponent, lowering its head to bring its horns into play. In addition to the normal benefits and hazards of a charge, this allows the beast to make a single gore attack with a +9 attack bonus that deals 2d6+9 points of damage.

Skills: Dire goats have a +4 racial bonus on Balance, Climb and Jump checks.
